We are looking for an exceptional Client Service Director to join our team in Tokyo!

About the role

Alongside the managing director of the Tokyo office, you will be the primary representative of IMI to our client, responsible for presenting research findings, responding to requests and attending meetings.  This is a crucially important role, and a great opportunity for the right candidate!

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with key stakeholders within our key account.
  • Presenting research findings to the client, either face-to-face or online, predominantly in Japanese.
  • Provide support to clients by responding to ad-hoc requests and questions
  • Attend client meetings to better understand business issues and to provide insight and guidance where appropriate
  • Writing up research results (in Powerpoint) in collaboration with our team of analysts and data processing specialists

Required Experience + Skills


  • At least 5 years’ experience in a client facing role within the marketing research, marketing consulting or business consulting space.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience in delivering client presentations
  • Ability to look at crosstabs + charts and “find the story” in the data
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

Highly Desirable:

  • Questionnaire writing experience
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts (stat testing in particular)

  • Comfortable with presenting to a room of 30+ people (in Japanese)
  • Smart, detail-oriented and resourceful. A passion for data and insights that will drive our client’s business.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and ability to think flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Able to speak native-level Japanese and business-level English.
